Ski Tourism in Chepelare

The Municipality of Chepelare is developing tourism in three separate centers - Pamporovo, Chepelare and the constituent villages of the municipality.

Pamporovo is the tourist travel brand of the region, visited mostly by organized tourists from home and abroad. Pamporovo resort has no avalanches and no sudden changes in weather. Available to skiers are 29 km of alpine tracks with various difficulties, 30 km. cross country runs, nine ski wardrobes, 6 lifts - with a capacity of 11,600 people per hour. The artificial snowmaking system has a total length of 4034 meters snow cover.

Chepelare ski resort - with nearly 20 kilometers of tracks of various difficulty, including a special snowboard run with deep snow. All routes are equipped with free wireless internet. Winter sports fans enjoy a new four-seat lift with a capacity of 2000 people per hour, with which the distance of 2700 m from the town to the Mechi Chal is traveled in only 9 minutes. The resort features the latest generation of artificial snow system that can cover the track for up to 100 hours at a temperature of -3 degrees.

Chepelare ski resort has more than 20 km of ski tracks and routes. The ski runs have been fully maintained and are marked according to the European standards.

One of the main tracks in the center is for advanced skiers - "red" with a length of 3250 meters. It is equipped with the most advanced system in Bulgaria for making artificial snow. 47 cannons can cover the track for 100 hours at a temperature of -3 degrees.

There is also a “green” track available to the intermediate skiers with a length of 6 km, as well as several shorter runs with various difficulty. For skiers and snowboarders there is a "hard red" ski track provided that features deep snow and a length of 1.2 km.

All ski runs are equipped with free wireless internet. This way fans of the mountain, ski and snowboard will be able to surf the web from their laptop or cell phone in between the dives or in the nearby restaurants by the slopes.

There are four snow groomer machines taking care of the maintenance of the track.

Rules of behavior for skiers and snowboarders

1.      People using ski and snowboard must not jeopardize or hamper with their behavior other people and must keep their gear in working order.

2.      People using ski and snowboard must take into consideration the speed and way they ski according to their capabilities, specifications of the terrain, snow coverage, climate conditions and traffic congestion. In areas characterized with lots of traffic and reduced visibility, people should move with reduced speed.

3.      People using ski and snowboard in front take precedence over those who are behind them. Those in behind must not endanger people in front of them and keep distances.

4.      During an overtake you must give enough space to the overtaken for any intentional or unintentional movement of the latter.

5.      Stopping in tight corners or places with reduced visibility is permitted only as a last resort and must move away as fast as possible.

6.      Moving without ski or snowboard must be conducted next to the ski runs, not on them.

7.      People using ski and snowboard must follow the signs and markings.

8.      In case of an accident you must secure the injured person and immediately notify the emergency services, giving them your name and address.

 

Section 2

Special rules of behavior in ski runs (*1)

1.      The ski running tracks are to be used only in one direction. Whenever there is an exception and the traffic is allowed in two-ways, there must be a dividing net and fence.

2.      The slower ski runner must be on the right side of the track

3.      Whenever the ski runner is overtaken and asked to give way, he must do so.
